Peny Boone is one of the best available players in the NCAA transfer portal after announcing his transfer from Louisville.

According to On3’s Pete Nakos, Boone is showing interest in Washington and plans to visit the Huskies this weekend. This would be a massive addition for new head coach Jedd Fisch, who replaces former head coach Kalen DeBoer.

The 6-foot-2, 225-pound running back started his career at Maryland in 2020. After two seasons with the Terrapins, he transferred to Toledo, where he exploded onto the scene.

Boone played in 26 games for the Rockets over the past two seasons. Last season, he had a career-high 1,400 rushing yards and 16 total touchdowns. After his impressive season, he was named the 2023 MAC Offensive Player of the Year.

Washington has a massive hole at running back after Dillon Johnson declared for the NFL Draft. The Huskies struggled running the football last season, ranking ninth in the Pac-12 in rushing yards per game (118.4).

Washington returned to the College Football Playoff for the first time since 2016 last season. The Huskies advanced to the national title game and lost to Michigan.
