Floyd Mayweather advised to come out of retirement for money-spinning YouTuber fight

Floyd Mayweather has been urged to come out of retirement and contest a lucrative blockbuster exhibition fight with YouTube megastar KSI. Mayweather has taken on various MMA, social media stars and other high-profile people since retiring in order to make money – and KSI could be next.

Since 2022 when KSI – who’s real name is Olajide Olatunji – launched the promotion, Misfits Boxing has continued to grow and stage high-profile boxing events. Given the names involved in its management and competition, the events receive plenty of publicity and get eyes on the competition, which undoubtedly leads to revenue.

The 30-year-old boasts a 5-1-1 professional boxing record, while Mayweather officially stepped away from the sport in 2017 after defeating UFC icon Conor McGregor in a major event over 10 rounds. However, the American has continued to linger in the sport through incredibly lucrative exhibition bouts.

Back in November 2021, Mayweather faced KSI’s younger brother Deji, winning after six rounds of taunting and showboating. His performance and behavior enraged KSI, setting the stage for a fight of his own – and Mayweather’s uncle Jeff believes the opportunity may be too attractive to turn down.

“It’s a fight that brings a ton of money for both of them, so why not?” Jeff told SunSport. “I mean KSI, I worked with him and of course, there’s no YouTube fighter on the planet that’s going to beat Floyd, I don’t care what weight they are.

“They’re not gonna be Floyd. Floyd still has the body of a fighter, he still runs, once in a while he’s still in the gym. It’s been his life, that’s the life that he knows because he grew up that way. It’s installed in him.”

KSI has not fought since suffering his first boxing defeat in controversial circumstances against Tommy Fury in October. But he is eyeing a return to action, naming Mayweather along with McGregor, Jake Paul and a rematch with Fury as potential opponents.

Meanwhile, Mayweather has contested seven exhibitions against stars from the social media, MMA and boxing world since retiring. He last fought against the grandson of notorious mob boss John Gotti, which ended in a disqualification victory following a mass in-ring brawl.

Jeff supported Mayweather’s decision to continue fighting if there is money to be made. He added: “I mean, why not grab $3-4million fighting a guy that has basically never done anything in the real sport of boxing?

“And it’s entertaining, it’s not even a real fight. We already know who’s going to win.”
