On Friday evening, Victor Wembanyama and the San Antonio Spurs hosted the Portland Trail Blazers in Texas.
Despite losing the first quarter by seven points, the Spurs had control for most of the game and won by a score of 116-100.
Wembanyama had 23 points, 12 rebounds, four assists, two steals and two blocks while shooting 7/18 from the field and 3/7 from the three-point range in 29 minutes of playing time.
During the game, the 20-year-old rookie had an enormous block that went viral on social media.
Anfernee Simons went up for a shot, and Wembanyama came from behind to swat the shot, which led to a three-pointer on the other end of the court for the Spurs.
Wembanyama is now averaging 20.5 points, 10.1 rebounds, 3.0 assists, 1.1 steals and 3.2 blocks per contest while shooting 46.3% from the field and 29.9% from the three-point range in 39 games.
With the victory, the Spurs improved to 9-36 in their first 45 games, which has them as the 15th seed in the Western Conference.
They are 4-6 over their last ten games and 4-17 in the 21 games they have played at home.
Following the Trail Blazers, the Spurs will host the Minnesota Timberwolves on Saturday evening.
As for the Trail Blazers, they dropped to 13-32 in their first 45 games, which has them as the 14th seed in the Western Conference.
They are 3-7 over their last ten games and will now face off against the Chicago Bulls (at home) on Sunday.
