This Morning’s star Fern Britton had a short message on new co-hosts Cat Deeley and Ben Shephard’s performance on the famous ITV show, which airs on Virgin Media in Ireland.
The presenter, who used to host the show from 1999 till 2009, made a guest appearance where she discussed her time on Celebrity Big Brother. Towards the end of her chat, she couldn’t stop herself from passing comment on Cat – who is married to RTE Late Late Show host Patrick Kielty – and Ben. They were announced as the new permanent hosts of This Morning as they took over from Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield earlier this month.
Fern said: “15 years since I was last on [this] programme. And, well done you two.” Cat and Ben thanked her for her kind remarks as she went on to lean over and offer both a kiss on the cheek. She even gave the duo an invite to stay at her home in Cornwall.
During the chat, Fern she recalled the moment where she hit her head on a sofa during a game on Celebrity Big Brother. Fern stated: “The medic came out and said ‘it’s blunt force trauma so you will feel a bit funny’…” before trailing off as she noticed Ben’s glance. She added: “You look like you’re wrapping up so I will just tell you very quickly,” to which Ben amusingly responded: “You know those eyes,” which prompted a smile and the response “I do” from Fern.

Fern went on to share more about her health scare, saying: “The medic also said, as I had to have a shower because I had to get ready because it was eviction night, to just have someone in the bathroom with me in case I have an issue. And who came in with me? David! He sat on the sofa while I was having a shower and was going, ‘you alright Ferny?’ He is the most adorable man.”
The former This Morning host admitted she won’t be watching her time in the Big Brother house. While on the reality show, Fern appeared to have a ‘feud’ with Strictly Come Dancing professional Nikita Kuzmin. “Nikita is charming, absolutely handsome, he’s gorgeous”, she admitted to Cat and Ben.
She referenced the supposed feud that kept many viewers on the edge of their seats. “Something happened there, we didn’t get each other and I accidentally said… I don’t even quite know what I said, but he thought it was something to get at him. It really wasn’t”, she remembered.
Ben reminded her that “everyone is heightened” in those situations, making them on edge and susceptible to take things personally. “It was a difficult one”, she added. “I think he’d already put me up for nominations and he told me that it was because I went to bed early, that I wouldn’t do his gym sessions. He had to think of something to nominate.” Fern then confessed she had no intention of looking back at her stint: “I’m not going to [watch it back] not for a long time, if that. I don’t want to embarrass myself or delve deep into anything… I just don’t want to.”
