Family of girl injured in Parnell Square attack say she has reached 'great milestones’ in her recovery

THE YOUNG GIRL who was critically injured during an attack on Parnell Square last November has reached “great milestones” in her recovery.

The girl, aged 5, and two other children along with their carer were hospitalised following a multiple stabbing at Coláiste Mhuire, Parnell Square.

The two other children, aged five and six, and the carer, Leanne Flynn, have since been discharged from hospital.

In an update posted today on the verified GoFundMe donation page set up to support the young girl, her family noted that there have been “great milestones for our little big warrior”.

It was stated that she has “started on feeds”, though not orally as yet, and that she is moving her arms.

“She is enjoying her Irish lessons with the Hospital School,” added the update.

“And loves watching Paddington 1 and 2 for laughs.”

In a previous update, it was remarked that the young girl is “doing well” despite facing some “serious tummy issues”.

However, her family said these issues have “shown us even more so how resilient she is” and that they are determined to match her strength.

A man in his 50s, Riad Bouchaker, has been charged in relation to the attack.
