Conor McGregor
MMA legend Conor McGregor will be back in court next week in a new battle to defend his name.
He is being sued by a women and her mother, both known to him, for alleged assault and personal injury claims. The first case is due to go ahead next Tuesday before a judge and a jury in the Dublin High Court.
The second case taken by the mother will be before a judge only. The two legal actions relate to an incident which is alleged to have taken place in 2018.
No details of what is alleged to have occurred have been revealed publicly yet. The alleged incidents were previously investigated at length by gardai but the Director of Public Prosecutions did not proceed with any charges.
Conor McGregor is denying all of the allegations against him. The fighter is back in training having not fought in the octagon for more than two and a half years.
He is now due to fight the former three time Bellator lightweight champion Michael Chandler in UFC 303 in Las Vegas on Saturday, June 29 next. ‘The Notorious’ has been riddled by injuries in recent years and is now said to be almost back to full health.
McGregor is spending most of his time between the USA, Marbella and Dublin. Over three years ago the fighter and his business associates sold his popular Proper No. Twelve Irish whiskey brand for around $600 million.
It is not known how much exactly McGregor personally made from the deal. He is currently still facing a multi-million euro legal action as a result of the sale from his former friend and sparring partner, fighter Artem Lobov.
Mr Lobov has also issued proceedings in a second case against McGregor for defamation. No date has been set yet for these hearings.
Mr Lobov, who has a masters in business degree and worked in the drinks industry, previously claims the McGregor whiskey business was his idea and he was promised a percentage of the business by the fighter. McGregor and Lobov were very close pals and trained together for years.
