Washington bulked up its depth at linebacker Wednesday with the addition of former Michigan redshirt freshman Hayden Moore.
The 6-foot-3, 210-pound native of Aurora, Colorado, replaces the spot vacated by Jordan Whitney, who entered the transfer portal on May 2 after seeing little to no reps in spring camp.
Moore committed to the Wolverines football program out of Regis Jesuit High School as a three-star recruit in the 2023 class over offers from Iowa State and Nebraska.
An all-around talented prep standout, Moore also reportedly had scholarship offers to play college baseball at Louisiana Tech and Washington State.
On the football field Moore is a true inside linebacker who possesses the versatility to line up with his hand on the ground, one way or another getting after opposing quarterbacks.
Combined between his junior and senior year at Regis Jesuit, Moore recorded 308 total tackles (147 solo), 28 tackles for loss, 12 sacks, 1 forced fumble and 1 interception over 24 games.
Although Moore didn’t appear in a single game as a true freshman, there is a chance he could suit up against his now former school when Michigan travels to face Washington on Oct. 5 at Husky Stadium this fall.
Moore is the 10th defensive transfer add for UW and the 21st overall since Jedd Fisch took over in mid-January.
