El mundo acumula ya once meses de temperaturas cálidas sobre el promedio preindustrial

El programa de observación Copernicus informó este viernes que el planeta Tierra acumula once meses seguidos de temperaturas cálidas anormales. El proyecto de la Comisión Europea que lleva adelante la Agencia Espacial Europea detectó que esas temperaturas están por sobre el promedio histórico tanto al medirlas en el aire como en la superficie de los océanos. El organismo da cuenta que el calentamiento global sigue su curso sin pausa, lo que provoca el cambio climático a nivel global, producto del uso masivo del carbón, el gas fósil y el petróleo.

La instancia europea aclaró que desde junio de 2023 se vienen registrando temperaturas mensuales anormales y que ocurre cuando el fenómeno climático de El Niño muestra agotamiento. El observatorio especializado expresó que ese fenómeno “continuó debilitándose” y que puede significar una eventual baja en las cifras promedio hacia el final del año. En abril de 2024 la temperatura media llegó a los 15,03° Celsius, lo que implica un alza de 1,58° C en el promedio para cuarto mes del año en toda la era preindustrial, que se estima desde 1850 al 1900.

Copernicus avisó que los once meses de registros al alza “aunque inusual, una serie parecida de récords mensuales ya se había observado en 2015/2016″. En los últimos doce meses la temperatura del planeta Tierra se ubicó un 1,61° Celsius por sobre la era preindustrial. El registro es una alerta para todos los científicos, porque la cifra interanual supera el límite establecido con los países en al Acuerdo de París de un límite máximo de 1,5° Celsius.

El programa indicó que abril de 2024 fue el segundo más cálido jamás registrado en el territorio europeo, imitando lo ocurrido desde enero a marzo del presente año. ABC News detalla que el mes pasado la temperatura promedio global de la superficie del mar para la mayoría de los océanos del mundo fue de 21,04 grados Celsius. Se trata del valor más alto registrado para un mes de abril, desde que existen mediciones científicas.
