Draft Analyst Predicts 4-5 Teams Will Trade Up For Quarterback Before NFL Draft

There are a number of good to great quarterback prospects available in the 2024 NFL Draft in April. For one draft analyst, teams could get so desperate that there will be nearly half a dozen trades before the draft.

Taking to X on Saturday, NFL Network’s Daniel Jeremiah speculated that “4-5 teams” could look into moving up in the draft to position themselves for a quarterback in the draft. He believes that this is due to a lack of enthusiasm for the 2025 NFL Draft quarterback prospects.

“I believe we’ll see 4-5 teams look into moving up for a QB over the next few months. Teams aren’t excited about next year’s QB class,” Jeremiah wrote.

The 2024 NFL Draft features Caleb Williams, Drake Maye, Jayden Daniels, Bo Nix, Michael Penix Jr., and J.J. McCarthy – and that’s just the biggest names with first-round potential. There are a good number of other quarterbacks who would be solid picks in the first two days of the draft.

But Jeremiah is making an awfully big assumption about teams looking ahead to 2025 to make a decision on a quarterback now. The draft rankings can change in a big hurry depending on the outcome of the college football season.

Lest we forget, players like Joe Burrow and Kyler Murray were far from No. 1 overall prospects the year before they were drafted. It took their remarkable seasons combined with a lot of other craziness to manifest them going No. 1 overall in their respective drafts.
