Dos muertos y 7 heridos por disparos en una fiesta multitudinaria en un parque de Memphis

MEMPHIS, Tennessee, EE.UU. (AP) — Nueve personas fueron baleadas, incluidos dos hombres que murieron, en una fiesta pública no autorizada en un parque de la ciudad de Memphis, informó la policía.

Agentes policiales respondieron el sábado en la noche a un reporte de tiroteo en el parque Orange Mound, dijo Cerelyn Davis, jefa de la policía de Memphis, en una conferencia de prensa en el sitio. Dos hombres fueron declarados muertos en el lugar, agregó.

Seis víctimas que sobrevivieron fueron trasladadas a hospitales de la zona, indicó la policía. Una de ellas había estado sumamente grave y otra fue dada de alta. Para el domingo por la mañana, las víctimas ya se encontraban en condición estable, agregó la policía en la red social X.

Horas más tarde, la policía indicó que otra víctima de la balacera que había sido localizada no estaba grave, según reportes noticiosos.

El tiroteo ocurrió en una fiesta de barrio, a la que según dijo Davis acudieron entre 200 y 300 personas, pero aparentemente no contaba con un permiso municipal.

Se cree que al menos dos personas hicieron disparos durante la balacera, y la policía examina tomas de video como parte de la investigación, añadió Davis. Hasta el momento no hay arrestos. La policía indicó el domingo en la noche que la recompensa para quien proporcione información que facilite la detención de los responsables había sido incrementada a 15.000 dólares.

“No hay palabras que puedan describir adecuadamente el dolor que todos sentimos por este acto más reciente de violencia sin sentido, en el que se llevaron armas abiertamente a un parque lleno de jóvenes, familias y niños”, dijo el alcalde de Memphis, Paul Young, en un comunicado divulgado el domingo. “Esto debe parar. La violencia debe terminar”.

En un principio la policía de Memphis reportó que 16 personas habían sido baleadas, pero posteriormente revisó el número, e hizo notar en redes sociales que aparentemente el error se debió a que “varias víctimas fueron reportadas varias veces”.
