Two of the seven jurors are lawyers. Only one of the seven, a woman, said she was unaware of other criminal trials concerning the former US President.
After swearing the seven jurors in on Tuesday, Judge Mercan indicated that he hopes to complete the jury selection process by the end of the week with opening statements taking place as soon as Monday April 22.
Mr. Trump denies 34 counts of falsifying business records in the first degree. In 2016, the former US President is alleged to have directed his former lawyer, Michael Cohen, to pay adult film actress, Stormy Daniels, $130,000- (€122,000) to keep quiet about an alleged extramarital affair she had with Mr Trump – allegations he has always denied.
Prosecutors allege that Trump broke the law by falsifying these business records to hide illegal hush-money payments and protect his chances during the presidential election. If convicted, Mr. Trump could face up to four years in prison.
Jury selection is due to recommence on Thursday.
