Donald Trump has lashed out at the judge who ordered him to pay $464 million in the civil fraud case that threatens the former-President’s property empire.
Despite once boasting he had an almost $9 billion fortune, Donald Trump has not been able to get a bond to secure the fraud judgment against him, his lawyers have said.
Trump ranted against New York state Attorney General Letitia and judge Arthur Engoron. The former president and his company need to post a bond for the total amount – $464 million (£365 million) – by next week to stop the Attorney General from being able to collect the cash while he appeals.

“He is a Crazed, Trump Hating, Rogue Judge, has ZERO respect for the Appellate Judges, and has torn apart the Legal System in New York State,” he wrote.
He also lashed out at AG James describing her as “the Racist and Politically Corrupt A.G., who ran for office on a platform of “I will get Trump” without knowing anything about me or my business.”
He vented on Truth Social, the social media platform he set up after getting banned from Twitter over his alleged role in inciting the 2021 Capitol Riot.
Fuming he said that any business thinking about moving into New York State “is CRAZY” and existing businessed will flee.
Justice Arthur Engoron sits with his clerk as he presides over the civil fraud trial
Last month, New York State Supreme Court Justice Arthur Engoron found the former president of over estimating the values of his properties in order to dupe lenders and insurers. Trump and his companies were ordered to pay the state $354,868,768 plus interest, pushing the penalty now to $464million. He has also been banned from doing business in New York for three years, while his sons Donald Jr. and Eric are barred for the next two years.
On Monday, March 18, Trump’s lawyer asked an appeals court to step in, admitting they have not had any success getting a bond. “Defendants’ ongoing diligent efforts have proven that a bond in the judgment’s full amount is ‘a practical impossibility,'” his legal team wrote in court records.

After spending “countless hours negotiating with one of the largest insurance companies in the world,” his lawyers said that “obtaining an appeal bond in the full amount” of the judgement “is not possible under the circumstances presented,” the filing stated. Failure of payment by next week will result in New York Attorney General Letitia James seizing Trump’s properties while he appeals.
