Baltimore Ravens Give Dalvin Cook Major Promotion Before Divisional Round
The Baltimore Ravens were ready to give newcomer Dalvin Cook a promotion ahead of their contest against the Houston Texans in the Divisional Round on Saturday. The Ravens hinted a change was coming at running back this week when they waived veteran running back Melvin Gordon Wednesday.
The Ravens added Cook to their practice squad before their Week 18 game. Cook had been with the New York Jets all season until he was released after Week 17 after not being used to his full potential following Aaron Rodgers’ Achilles injury.

The Ravens, who have dealt with a few severe backfield injuries this season, added Cook for their playoff push. According to Adam Schefter with ESPN, the Ravens signed Cook to the 53-man roster from the team’s practice squad Thursday morning.
Cook has 214 yards on 67 carries this season with the Jets. He did not play for the Ravens in Week 18. Cook is expected to have more use in the Ravens offense than what he had with the Jets.
