Filming is now underway on Zombies 4.
It was previously reported that a fourth installment of Disney’s Zombies franchise was in the works, and it’s now been revealed that filming has officially started in New Zealand. Along with the announcement comes the unveiling of the first photo from the set with the starring cast members all together. This includes returning franchise stars Meg Donnelly and Milo Manheim, who are back to reprise their roles as Addison and Zed, respectively. The image of the cast on the set can be viewed below.

Joining the cast for Zombies 4 are Swayam Bhatia (Disney’s The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers, as Vera; Julian Lerner (ABC’s The Wonder Years) as Ray; and Mekonnen Knife (Joe vs. Carole) as Vargas. All three of these new characters are “new mysterious monsters,” though exact details on what makes them so haven’t yet been disclosed. Lisa Chappell (McLeod’s Daughters) and Jonno Roberts (La Brea) are also cast in adult roles as Eldress and Commander Bright, respectively. They join previously announced cast members Donnelly, Manheim, Chandler Kinney (Willa), Kylee Russell (Eliza), Freya Skye (Nova), and Malachi Barton (Victor).
The Synopsis for Zombies 4 Has Been Revealed
The official synopsis for Zombies 4, which is the working title of the film, reads, “The franchise’s fourth installment follows Zed and Addison as they embark on a road trip the summer after their first year of college. As adventures unfold, they unexpectedly discover the warring worlds of Sunnyside and Shadyside and come into contact with Nova, Victor, Vera, Ray and Vargas on their summer travels. Zombies, werewolves and aliens alike are shocked by the meeting of two new supernatural groups.”

Paul Hoen will return to direct Zombies 4 after helming all four previous movies. The new installment is written by Josh Cagen, David Light, and Joseph Raso. Hoen, Light, and Raso are also executive producing alongside stars Meg Donnelly and Milo Manheim, while other EPs include Jane Fleming (The Quest) and Mark Ordesky (The Lord of the Rings movie trilogy). Mahita P. Simpson is co-executive producing.
It has also been reported that the franchise will expand with a new animated series. The animated spinoff is expected to arrive on Disney Channel and Disney+ in Summer 2024. While no artwork from the show has yet been revealed, its title will reportedly be Zombies: The Re-Animated Series.
Zombies 4 doesn’t yet have a release date.
