HULU SELANGOR: A DAP assemblyman has accused Perikatan Nasional’s Khairul Azhari Saut of copying the Pakatan Harapan candidate’s manifesto for the Kuala Kubu Baharu by-election.
Buntong assemblyman M Thulsi Thivani claimed that the PN candidate’s manifesto looked a lot like Pang Sock Tao’s, and pointed out that the latter had unveiled hers first.
“The fact that he only released (his manifesto) yesterday shows his lack of care and commitment even as a candidate. What more then when he becomes an elected representative,” she told reporters while campaigning for Pang.
Thulsi added that Khairul would have launched his manifesto earlier if he had his own vision for the state constituency in Selangor.
FMT has reached out to Selangor PN chairman Azmin Ali to comment on her claim.
Pang and Khairul are in a four-cornered contest in the May 11 by-election, with the two also vying against Parti Rakyat Malaysia’s Hafizah Zainuddin and independent candidate Nyau Ke Xin.
Pang had unveiled her five-point manifesto last Saturday, focusing on economic activities, facilities, environment and recreation, heritage and culture, and the people’s well-being.
Under the economic thrust, the DAP candidate said she would aim to boost economic activities based on industrial development in Hulu Selangor, while empowering the local tourism sector and entrepreneurship.
On the other hand, Khairul launched his manifesto yesterday, comprising five points covering Kuala Kubu Baharu’s development, natural environment, local economy, women and youths, and minority groups.
He vowed to prepare a blueprint for sustainable development to safeguard the area’s natural environment and to promote Kuala Kubu Baharu as an ecotourism destination.
