Croke Park an 82,300 sellout! Leinster fans snap up tickets for Champions Cup glamour tie

Leinster’s Champions Cup Croke Park semi-final date with Northampton Saints has sold-out inside a few hours.

Over 82,000 tickets have been snapped up since they went on release this morning at 10am as supporters raced to bank the best seats in the house.

Leinster’s tie in the 82,300-capacity stadium takes place on Saturday, May 4, with a 5.30 kick-off and will mark their first appearance at GAA HQ since their 2009 European Cup semi-final win against Munster.

“Every ticket on offer for the much-anticipated clash of Leinster and Northampton at Dublin’s iconic Croke Park on Saturday 4 May has already been sold in the space of just a few hours today (Friday 19 April),” read a Champions Cup statement.

Croke Park has come into play for Leinster as a result of the Aviva Stadium being closed for preparations for the UEFA Europa League final. Leinster will also play any potential URC knockout games at the venue this season.

Yesterday, Leinster announced that next term they will play further games at the northside venue, as well as the majority of matches in the Aviva stadium, while the RDS undergoes reconstruction.

The RDS is rebuilding the Anglesea Stand as part of a €50m redevelopment, with construction expected to start later this year.
