Licenced to thrill! Pierce Bronsan was the man-of-the-moment at the Oscar Wilde Awards in LA on Thursday.
The awards are the pre-curser to the Oscar celebrations and recognise the achievements of the Irish community in film, TV and music, including this year our very own Bond star Pierce who was among the main honorees on the night.

The Navan actor was all smiles on the green carpet with his wife of 30 years Keely Shay Smith standing proudly by his side.

The longtime couple looked more in love that ever as they made their way into the Bad Robot offices in LA for the awards and they even coordinated their looks for the occasion.
Pierce, 70, was dapper as ever in black trousers and a high collar fitted black jacket while Keely ditched the usual heels and little black dress in favour of an elegant black ribbon tie jacket, a black shirt, and tailored trousers, paired with ballerina flats.

As he graced the stage to accept his award, Pierce spoke of the importance of Ireland in his life but also in his stellar career. He was clearly delighted to see so many people turn out on the night and gave a special shout-out to Oscar hopeful Cillian Murphy.
Addressing the speculation about Cillian picking up his 007 status after Daniel Craig’s retirement, he told the BBC that he thought the Oppenheimer star ‘would do a magnificent job as James Bond on His Majesty’s Secret Service. ‘

Cillian quickly put paid the rumours and opened up about his chances of taking home the coveted gold statue on Sunday saying ‘what will be, will be.’

He was more forthcoming about the buildup to the Oscars saying: ‘It’s amazing. It’s been a whirlwind but we’re full of gratitude, being in the room with all these amazing filmmakers, people that you’ve watched as a kid, it’s pretty surreal.’

Also in attendance on the night was former Bond star Jane Seymour, Titantic Director James Cameron, and Samantha Mumba who was looked toned in a figure hugging brown dress, and giant hoop earrings on the night.
Saturday Night Live star Molly Shannon who has Irish roots in Mayo, also picked up an award.

‘I always felt Irish growing up but when I went to Achill and saw where my great-great-grandfather lived and how they lived, it really blew me away. It was so emotional. It really gives you a sense of where your ancestors come for and how hard they worked to give us a better life. I just fell in love with Ireland. I want to go back and bring my kids,’ she said on the night.
Visual effect artist Richard Baneham who hails from Dublin and worked on Avatar was also honoured at the awards.
