The Spring college football transfer portal is as active as ever in 2024. Several big-name programs have the opportunity to land a big fish or watch one of their own stars swim away. Fox college football analyst Joel Klatt said several college coaches he spoke with expressed stress ahead of the 2024 Spring transfer portal as the ability to move schools becomes more fluid than ever.
The most recent national champions are not immune to players leaving the program. The Michigan Wolverines learned they’ll be a little thinner at wide receiver ahead of their Saturday Spring Game after learning both Karmello English and now Cristian Dixon are entering the transfer portal.
Dixon began his career at Michigan as a wide receiver and a former four-star recruit. However, following the 2023 national championship-winning season, he was expected to switch sides of the ball to play in the secondary. He inconsequentially switched back to wideout before heading to the transfer portal.
Fellow former four-star wide receiver Karmello English never appeared on spring rosters in Ann Arbor. A team spokesperson told Maize & Brew he was no longer with the program as of late March. He posted his decision to enter the transfer portal around the same time, making it official on April 16th.
Darrius Clemons also entered the transfer portal during the window following the national championship game and is now with the Oregon State Beavers. The Wolverines graduated both top producers from 2023 Roman Wilson and Cornelius Johnson. Come Saturday’s Spring Game, they’ll be without five wide receivers with whom they won the 2024 CFP Title Game.
Their top wideout options now will consist of Semaj Morgan, Tyler Morris, Frederick Moore, and Peyton O’Leary.
