Coach DeMeco Ryans 'Fired Up' About Texans' New Uniforms

HOUSTON — The 2024 NFL Draft is a week away, meaning the Houston Texans are inching closer to unveiling their new jerseys. The Texans will hold a uniform release party on April 23, and coach DeMeco Ryans is “fired up.”

“It’s 2024, time for a fresh look for the Texans — I know we’ve had the same uniforms since our organization started here in 2002,” Ryans said.

“I think the coolest part about the new uniforms is, as you guys know, having our fans’ input into the look of our new uniform. I thought that was pretty cool and pretty unique by our organization, being able to talk to our fans and get a true feel for what our fans wanted to see.”

New principal owner Cal McNair gave fans a peek at the new jerseys on March 18, which featured wide receivers Tank Dell and Nico Collins. The jerseys revealed on Reddit depicted a modern look of the franchise’s steel blue uniforms, which have been synonymous with the team since its conception in 2002.

According to Texans TV Host Drew Dougherty, the Texans’ new jerseys will also commemorate H-Town Blue, paying homage to the Houston Oilers. The Oilers played in Houston for nearly three decades until their jettison to Tennessee in 1996.

“I was messing with the guys earlier, talking about how I wore the same uniform that they’re wearing, and I think it’s time for an update,” Ryans said. “Of course, our players are fired up about the new look, so it’ll be an exciting reveal next week for everyone.”
