Jon Rahm forces LIV Golf commentator to apologise over furious outburst

Jon Rahm was caught in a foul-mouthed outburst once again as he continued a regular habit on the LIV Golf circuit, leading a commentator to apologise for his tirade.

The former world No. 1 let his frustrations boil over after a slip up as he showed fierce passion for his new Legion XIII team since making the move to the Saudi Arabian tour. Clearly wanting to lead by example as team skipper, the 29-year-old uttered an expletive as he missed a putt in Round Two at Jeddah.

Eventually, the team emerged as runners-up on the leaderboard behind the Smash GC team, drawing them level with fellow LIV Golf rebel Brooks Koepka and his outfit. However, before Rahm had slipped to fifth in the individual standings on nine under par, he clearly was dejected as exclaimed ‘f***’ as he rued his efforts.

Amusingly, the his angry remark did not go unnoticed by the commentator either as the Spanish superstar’s words were picked up by the hot mic. Waiting for the one-time US Open champion to putt the ball, the broadcaster saw the funny side of the episode as he responded saying: “Fiddlesticks!”

Previous to this, Rahm had impressed during Day One of events at Jeddah, as he raced to the top of the 54-man leaderboard alongside Adrian Meronk. However, his downturn in performance saw him repeat a habit of swearing on the course which has become a regular occurrence for Rahm at previous events.

During an appearance in Vegas recently, he yelled ‘how is that f****** possible, man?’, with this following on from his outburst a week earlier, where he used expletives once again. In that instance, the Spaniard exclaimed ‘f*** off’ as he got an approach shot on the eighth hole all wrong, while also seeing red at the 18th hole, shouting: “F***! Get lucky.”

Before this, Rahm had opened up on the transition to playing on the LIV Golf circuit as he adjusted to life in the Gulf State following his lucrative move. In a frank admission, the Spaniard admitted that he was missing competing at some of his favourite events after the switch.

Jon Rahm was frustrated with his efforts in Jeddah as he blurted out an expletive

“It was a lot harder to be at home not competing and know that those events were going on Palm Springs and Torrey, those weeks were hard. I’ve explained so many times how important Torrey is for me,” he admitted, before confessing: “Driving by Phoenix as often as I had to and knowing that I wasn’t going to play there, it’s definitely emotional.

“That’s one of the things that I’m going to miss. I’m not typically a person that’s going to regret any decisions. I made as educated a decision as I could with the full support of the people around me and [I’m] confident that it was the right thing for me, so I’m not going to regret it.”

On the hope of getting back to playing those events eventually, the reigning Masters winner admitted that he is still optimistic for the future. “I’m hoping that in the near future I can be back playing some of those events. I would certainly love to go back and play some of them,” he said.

“If there’s ever a way back and a way where we can play, even if it’s as an invite, I will take it, he continued, as he issued a plea to PGA Tour chiefs despite his lucrative move to the rebel circuit. “There’s certain events that are special to me that I would still love to support.”
