While the Philadelphia Eagles are often praised for their work during the NFL Draft, they have also signed notable role players as undrafted free agents. Following the 2024 NFL Draft, Philadelphia has officially signed seven undrafted free agents.

Reed Blankenship, Britain Covey, and Eli Ricks are some of Philadelphia’s most recent steals in undrafted free agency. Which players have a chance to make the team’s final roster in 2024?

3 UDFAs With Best Chance To Make Philadelphia Eagles’ Final Roster

Eagles general manager Howie Roseman and his scouting staff have done an impressive job in undrafted free agency in recent years.

Covey developed into arguably the best punt returner in the NFL last season, Blankenship was a starter for Philadelphia’s defense and possibly the most reliable player in the team’s secondary, and T.J. Edwards signed as a UDFA with the Eagles following the 2019 draft and flourished in Philadelphia before departing in free agency.

Although the Eagles haven’t signed as many undrafted free agents in 2024 as they normally have in recent years, there are certainly a few intriguing names to watch for this offseason.

Gabe Hall, DT, Baylor

Following the retirement of Fletcher Cox, some expected the Eagles to address defensive tackle during the 2024 NFL Draft. Due to the franchise’s recent investments in both Jordan Davis and Jalen Carter, Philadelphia didn’t use a draft pick in that area.

But the Eagles managed to sign arguably the best defensive tackle remaining in undrafted free agency — former Baylor defensive tackle Gabe Hall, who was projected by many to be selected on Day 3 of the event.

Given Philadelphia’s lack of notable DT depth outside of Milton Williams, Hall has a legitimate chance of making the final roster. At 6’6″, 291 pounds, with 34 1/2″ arms, Hall brings absurd size to the position that Philadelphia’s defensive front is lacking.

Hall’s rare length and upside as a pass rusher could be enough to earn him a final roster spot for the Eagles. His ability to block field goals will make him valuable on special teams, which is always a factor during final cuts.

McCallan Castles, TE, Tennessee

Another area Philadelphia was expected to address during the 2024 NFL Draft was at tight end.

Although the Eagles signed veteran C.J. Uzomah in free agency, Philadelphia’s depth at the position is questionable at best. That’s why former Tennessee TE McCallan Castles could make the team’s final roster.

Castles offers upside as a pass catcher, given his ability to make plays from various alignments. He played a ton of snaps aligned in the slot during his college career.

Similar to Hall, some expected Castles to be selected on Day 3 of this year’s draft. Yet, at 24 years old, teams likely didn’t think it was worth using a pick on an older prospect. Still, Castles could be exactly what the Eagles are looking for as depth with upside behind Dallas Goedert and Uzomah.

Gottlieb Ayedze, OT, Maryland

Heading into the 2024 NFL Draft, many believed offensive tackle would be a position that the Eagles would target as early as the first round. Yet, Philadelphia spent two selections on interior offensive linemen and didn’t add an OT during the event.

Former Maryland offensive tackle Gottlieb Ayedze could be Philadelphia’s long-term answer at offensive tackle.

Eagles offensive line coach Jeff Stoutland has proven to be more than capable of getting the best out of the players in Philadelphia’s offensive line group.

Similar to Hall and Castles, Ayedze was expected to be selected on Day 3 of this year’s draft. He has experience starting at both left and right tackle, which could make him valuable as a depth piece in Philadelphia.

Yet, Ayedze’s upside could be what forces the Eagles to keep him on the final roster instead of potentially losing him on the waiver wire.
