Bray Municipal District (BMD) has advised that the temporary car park located at Ravenswell Road in Bray, next to the old golf club lands, will be closed from Wednesday, April 17 and the will no longer be available for public use after this date.
In a post on social media, BMD explained that the car park “was established as a temporary measure while the car park at Bray Central was being developed. Bray Municipal District is grateful to the landowner for the use of the site during this period.”
While the Bray Central car park being open for business has rendered Ravenswell obsolete, in the District Engineer’s Report, which was circulated to councillors at the April meeting of BMD, further information was provided, with reference made to the site “progressing to construction phase”.
“Following a notice received to terminate the existing agreement between Shankill Property Investments Limited and Wicklow County Council in respect to the Ravenswell Road Car Park it is confirmed that the lease will cease with effect from April 17th 2024 as the site is now progressing to construction phase. To combat traffic congestion and traffic hazards on Castle Street south of the Fran O’Toole Bridge, it is intended to restrict access at Ravenswell Road, once the temporary car park is closed,” the report said.
Shankill Property Investments Limited is a subsidiary of Ballymore Group which has an application pending for housing on the site with An Bord Pleanala. Bray Municipal District was contacted for further information and in its reply said there are no updates yet available on that application.
