BP (NYSE:BP) said Monday its has resumed normal operations at its key Whiting, Indiana, refinery for the first time since a plantwide power outage more than six weeks ago.
The Whiting refinery is BP’s (BP) biggest in the U.S. and the country’s sixth largest overall, processing 440K bbl/day of crude oil, making a variety of liquid fuels and asphalt; it is the biggest fuel supplier to the Chicago area, where gasoline prices climbed by at least $0.20/gal in the days following the February 1 power outage at the plant.
BP (BP) reportedly began preparing the Whiting refinery for restart late last month and expect to carry out the restart during the first part of March.
