Boston Celtics beat Cleveland Cavaliers to remain perfect at home
NEW DELHI: Jayson Tatum delivered a stellar performance with 27 points and 11 rebounds, guiding the Boston Celtics to a 116-107 victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers. The win extended the Celtics’ unbeaten record at home to 12-0, making them the only NBA team yet to lose on their home court this season.
Despite a strong effort from the Cavaliers, who received a game-high 31 points from Donovan Mitchell, the Celtics maintained control throughout the game. Cleveland trailed 107-102 with three minutes left, but Boston responded with a 9-2 run, securing the victory. Al Horford’s 3-pointer with 29.1 seconds remaining pushed the Celtics’ lead to 116-104.
All five Boston starters contributed significantly, with Jaylen Brown adding 22 points, Kristaps Porzingis scoring 18, Jrue Holiday contributing 15, and Derrick White putting up 14 points. Horford also played a key role, grabbing 10 rebounds.
The Celtics showcased their scoring prowess early in the game, making six 3-pointers in the first quarter and establishing a 33-24 lead. They extended their advantage to 61-47 by halftime. Despite a spirited effort from the Cavaliers, who reduced the deficit to five points in the third quarter, Boston maintained control.
Cleveland received notable performances from Mitchell (31 points), Caris LeVert (26 points), and Darius Garland (19 points). However, their efforts were not enough to overcome the Celtics’ balanced attack. Boston’s success at the free-throw line, making 17 of 20 attempts, played a crucial role in securing the victory.
