BJAK not allowed to offer road tax renewal services, JPJ says

PETALING JAYA: Insurance platform BJAK has not been given approval by the transport ministry and road transport department (JPJ) to offer road tax renewal services, says JPJ.
The department was responding to an advertisement by BJAK about road tax renewal services on its website and social media platforms.
It said a statement posted on BJAK’s website that online road tax renewals at BJAK have been audited, verified, and approved by JPJ is “untrue and misleading”.
JPJ also said it had received complaints from the public that while their road tax renewals had been processed through the BJAK website, the validity period of their road tax was not updated.
It said it had also received complaints about additional fees charged by BJAK for road tax renewals.
“The department wants to clarify and emphasise that there is no system integration between the JPJ System (MySIKAP) and the system used by BJAK,” said JPJ.
JPJ said it encouraged the public to get their road tax renewed at JPJ counters, kiosks and mobile counters.
Alternatively, it suggested that the public use the MyJPJ application, JPJ public portal, and JPJ partner platforms such as PosMalaysia, MyEG, and Puspakom.
It urged the public to be cautious of platforms that offer unauthorised road tax renewal services.
