Former Microsoft CEO Bill Gates while talking to Trevor Noah on his podcast ‘What Now’ admitted that with artificial intelligence taking over, humans will not have to work so hard. The 68-year-old added that three-day work week could be possible, a view that is stark opposite of what Infosys boss Narayana Murthy’s opinion of youngsters grinding for 70 hours every week.
Gates told Noah that “If you eventually get a society where you only have to work three days a week, that’s probably OK.” He added that AI might not take jobs but will “change it forever.” The two spoke for about 45 minutes – talking about technology changing lives for good.
When Trevor Noah asked about the threat of artificial intelligence to jobs, Gates said there could one day be a time when humans “don’t have to work so hard.”

Murthy, on the other hand, had spoken about hard work – 70-hour work-weeks for youth – being a matter of national duty. The Infosys boss’ opinion during an interview with his company’s former CFO T.V. Mohandas Pai had sparked a big debate.
“My request is that our youngsters must say: ‘This is my country. I want to work 70 hours a week,” the 77-year-old had said.
Bill Gates, on the other hand, said that it is fine to have three-day work-weeks. The billionaire has on multiple occasions highlighted the risks and the benefits of AI.
