Biden DOJ threatens to sue Iowa over new immigration law: 'It's a joke'
Or this morning, the state of Iowa refusing to back down as the Bite administration threatens to sue. Over a new law allowing law enforcement to arrest and deport migrants who re enter the country. Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds joins us now. Good morning, Governor. Good morning, Charlie. It’s great to be with you, Great to be with you. So tell us, what have you heard from the federal government about this? Well, we received a letter. And basically what they’re claiming is that we’re interfering with their enforcement of federal immigration, which is ridiculous because as we know with eight million illegal immigrants walking across the border and into our country, 2,000,000 gotaways, that’s 30% under reported. 500 plus national Chinese nationalists that have crossed in two days over the California border. They’re not enforcing the immigration laws that are on the books. And every state in this country, every, every governor understands the consequences of what is happening. We are seeing violent crime, increased drug seizures. We’re seeing overdose, overdose deaths skyrocketing and if this president is not going to do his job. Job, then the states are going to step in and do it for him. So to be perhaps more technically accurate. You’re interfering with their non enforcement. You know one of the things on enforcement. Exactly, it’s a joke. It is basically they’re suing me for punishing people that have broken the law. You know, it’s kind of a one of the things that everybody likes to say in Washington is that the immigration system is broken and obviously there are problems. But one part of it that is not broken is it’s illegal to come into the country illegally. Yeah, exactly. They refuse to do their job as an intentional for them for what they are doing. He is not undertaking his constitutional duty to protect the sovereignty of this country. And most importantly, to protect American citizens. And I have a responsibility as the governor of Iowa. To protect my citizens and I am not going to shy away from it. We are not going to back down. We have a president and administration that’s AOL and doing their constitutional duty. So states across this country are going to step in. It’s one of the number one issues that Americans are concerned with and certainly Iowans what we see happening to this Country Day after day and it is a powder keg waiting to happen. And again if he’s not going to step up and do it, then we’re going to step up and and and really uphold the law. And uphold the law that we passed in the state of Iowa. Well, thank you so much for for fighting the good fight, Governor, and for joining us this morning. You bet. Thank you.
