Michael B. Jordan and Ryan Coogler’s vampire movie has started filming. A cryptic Instagram post by cinematographer Autumn Durald Arkapaw, who worked with Coogler Black Panther: Wakanda Forever revealed that the untitled movie has begun production.
Official details about the film remain scarce. However, rumors suggest that it will be set in the Jim Crow-era South, potentially incorporating elements of both vampires and Southern supernatural traditions. Ryan Coogler is slated to lead production through his Proximity Media company, with Zinzi Coogler and Sev Ohanian joining as producers. Additionally, Ludwig Göransson, a two-time Academy Award-winning composer known for his work on Coogler’s previous films, will serve as an executive producer alongside Rebecca Cho and Will Greenfield.

This collaboration marks Coogler’s fifth feature film with Michael B. Jordan, who previously starred in Fruitvale Station, Creed, and Black Panther, as well as a small role in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, all under Coogler’s direction. Hawkeye and Spider-Verse star Hailee Steinfeld has been cast in the movie, joining Loki alum Wunmi Mosaku, Delroy Lindo, and Jack O’Connell, whose castings were also recently announced.

Reportedly, Warner Bros. emerged victorious in the rights battle for the film after a fierce bidding war among Hollywood’s leading studios. The untitled project is purportedly scheduled to commence filming in New Orleans. Rumors swirl that the film, possibly featuring Jordan as a blood-sucking vampire, will diverge significantly from their previous endeavors. However, speculation abounds that Jordan may undertake multiple roles within the film.
