Join us at the Fifth Annual 80s Wrestling Con on Saturday, May 4th, at the Mennen Sports Arena in Morristown, NJ, featuring The Four Horsemen, Jake Roberts, and More! 80sWrestlingCon.com.
Monday’s episode of WWE Raw featured one of the more interesting and memorable moments in the show’s history: CM Punk, Drew McIntyre, and Seth Rollins exchanging words.
It set up Punk’s announcement as the guest commentator for the World Title Match when Rollins defends the title against McIntyre at WrestleMania 40. The moment felt more real and unique than in past segments.
They took various shots at each other, and while it felt loose, Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select reported that those in the company said that there was a general outline of where they were supposed to go instead of scripted word-for-word. They were told, “The talent knew they were all going to just go for it and see what happens.”
The promo segment was produced by Adam Pearce. The report did note, “We’re told that WWE production wasn’t anticipating CM Punk’s line where he cursed, and there was a memo sent to talent recently that discouraged them from swearing on the air.”
They haven’t heard of any issues backstage after the promos.
