Prediabetes is a condition in which blood sugar is high but not enough to be type 2 diabetes. Without intervention, it is likely to become type 2 diabetes within 10 years. Quality of life is affected in pre-diabetes because they need to become conscious about their diet. They cannot have a high-carb diet, have to avoid junk food, have to be exercising, have to monitor blood glucose, do schedule and planning. They should be watchful of symptoms of low or very high blood glucose and have fear of complications of diabetes.

Depending on certain risk factors, the worse the glucose group, the lower the health benefit weights (HUWs). The pre-diabetic conditions reduce health-related quality (HRQoL) compared to healthy people. This shows that in addition to reducing the risk of developing T2DM, preventing prediabetes will also improve health-related quality (HRQoL).
