Gautham Menon explains why Suriya declined ‘Dhruva Natchathiram’
Renowned Tamil director Gautham Menon, known for delivering several blockbuster films, has encountered delays with his directorial venture ‘Dhruva Natchathiram’, starring Chiyaan Vikram. This delay has raised concerns among fans eagerly awaiting its release. During a YouTube chat with actor Chithralakshmanan, Menon disclosed the reason behind Suriya’s decision to turn down the opportunity to star in the film.
Despite having collaborated successfully on hits like ‘Kaakha Kaakha’ and ‘Vaaranam Aayiram’, Suriya expressed hesitancy upon joining ‘Dhruva Natchathiram’ due to its innovative concept, lacking any familiar references in Tamil cinema. Menon attempted to persuade Suriya by proposing to develop the spy thriller into a series. Although Suriya underwent a test shoot for his role, he withdrew from the project just three days before filming commenced. Menon respected Suriya’s decision, acknowledging that he couldn’t compel an actor to align with his vision.
Subsequently, Menon approached Chiyaan Vikram for the lead role, and the long-delayed project is now poised for release. Originally scheduled for a November release, the makers have yet to finalize a new release date for ‘Dhruva Natchathiram’
