Property Tax Rent Rebate Program

The application period for Pennsylvania’s Property Tax/Rent Rebate Program is now open.

It gives money back to eligible older adults and people with disabilities aged 18 and older.

Last year, Gov. Josh Shapiro signed an expansion of the program into law. It raised the maximum standard rebate from $650 to $1,000.

The expansion also increased the income cap for renters and homeowners to $45,000

It’s the first time since 2006 that the income limits have been raised, and it delivers rebates to nearly 175,000 more Pennsylvanians.

About the program

Eligibility

This program supports Pennsylvania homeowners and renters who are:

  • 65 and older
  • Widows and widowers 50 and older
  • People with disabilities 18 and older

In addition to the age requirements, the household income must be less than $45,000 per year.

How much money can you receive?

The amount of money you will receive is based on your income.

Here’s the list of incomes and maximum rebates:

  • $0 – $8,000: $1,000
  • $8,001 – $15,000: $770
  • $15,001 – $18,000: $460
  • $18,001 – $4​​​​5,000: $380​

How to apply

Application deadline

Applications are due by June 30, 2024.

The Department of Revenue evaluates the program before the deadline every year. If extra funds are available, the deadline is extended to Dec. 31.
