Antony is doing everything he can to save his Manchester United career, including travelling to a specialist training facility during the international break.
The Brazilian has endured a dreadful time since his £85million move from Ajax in the summer of 2022. He has scored just 10 goals since his arrival and has lost his place in the starting line-up.
While boss Erik ten Hag has continued to back the Brazilian, his career at Old Trafford is at serious risk. United supporters have also grown increasingly frustrated with his poor performances.
He is hoping that his time at United can be kickstarted by his goal in the recent FA Cup win over Liverpool. With that up-turn in form in mind, the attacker has now taken an extra step towards reclaiming his place in the starting line-up.
Antony was left out of the Brazil squad for the March international break and used that time to travel to a specialist facility in Madeira for a personal training course. The facility he used was the Fisio Clinic.
It has several locations across Europe, helping clients to focus on rehabilitation, physiotherapy and reaching the peak level of physical performance. The clinic posted an update on social media of Antony being put through his paces with a series of strength and conditioning exercises.
“It is with great pleasure that we welcome the renowned international athlete Antony Santos to our Performance Medical Gym! At our space, we are constantly seeking to raise the standards of training, helping athletes reach new heights of performance,” the caption read.

“The presence of a player as talented as Antony Santos only strengthens our commitment to excellence. Thank you for choosing our clinic for your training. It was an honour to have you with us!”
Antony’s trip to Madeira comes a month after he was blasted for his performance against Nottingham Forest. The winger was substituted having disappointed in the win at the City Ground, drawing criticism from Newcastle legend Alan Shearer.
He said: “He might be disappointed he’s coming off but he hasn’t done anywhere near enough to warrant staying on the pitch tonight. Same old, same old, get the ball, come inside, pass it to someone else or have a shot. It’s not enough when you cost that much money.”
Antony has endured a tough season
While Shearer has been highly critical of the Brazilian, boss Ten Hag has backed his struggling star. And the Dutchman is confident his goal against Liverpool can help to revive his United career.
“He is in a problematic situation but you see he is fighting as well, he wants to contribute as well. He struggled so much. First part, he was not himself, he’s responsible for that. And then he lost confidence, and now he has to fight back,” he said.
“We see through the last two weeks, he’s returning. I see in training, I see the Antony I was used to work with at Ajax, and also used to work in the first weeks here. He has to fight back, and I’m sure he will do, because you’ve seen that goal.”
