Atlanta Braves starting pitcher Spencer Strider

When the Braves announced Spencer Strider experienced elbow discomfort following his start last Friday, everyone immediately began to fear the worst, and it feels like a matter of time before those nightmares come to a realization.

To this point, it has only been ruled a UCL sprain, as the Braves wait for the results of a second opinion. That second opinion happened earlier this week with Dr. Meister, but Mark Bowman is reporting that the Braves won’t announce any changes in his diagnosis until later in the week. Manager Brian Snitker did say, however, that his second opinion did not rule out Tommy John surgery.

When it comes to the Braves, I’m the ultimate optimist. They’ve done such an unbelievable job at putting an excellent product on the field every year. I also don’t like to speculate on injuries.

With that being said, it certainly sounds like Spencer Strider’s season is done. Elbow injuries are always worrisome when it comes to pitchers, and if a second opinion hasn’t cleared him, it’s hard to imagine anything will.
