76ers Trade Rumors: Philly 'Monitoring' Pair of High-Level Perimeter Players

As trade season gets underway, the Philadelphia 76ers are a contending-level team to keep an eye on leading up to the deadline. One insider recently detailed the latest on two names the team has been heavily connected to in rumors.

While on FanDuel TV, Shams Charania of The Athletic detailed the latest on the Sixers’ trade pursuits. He mentioned Zach LaVine and Toronto Raptors forward OG Anunoby as two names they continue to monitor.

“The Sixers are continuing to look at the marketplace,” Shams said. “Zach LaVine, OG Anunoby, those are two names to keep an eye on as guys that Philadelphia has monitored, has interest in.”

Earlier this month, Shams reported that the Sixers are prioritizing a player who can impact both sides of the floor. With Anunoby being mentioned again here, it’s clear he is someone who is high on their list of potential targets.

As a 6-foot-7 wing who can defend multiple positions, Anunoby is the perfect archetype of player to put next to Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey. Along with his high-level perimeter defense, he is also someone who can be a threat on the offensive end as well. The 26-year-old has played in 23 games for the Raptors this season and is averaging 14.7 PPG, 4.0 RPG, and 2.5 APG.

The Sixers have been linked to LaVine since he was open to being traded from the Chicago Bulls. However, all reports indicate that the team remains patient on that front.

LaVine has been out of action since November 28th as he deals with injury. Before getting sidelined, he was averaging 21.0 PPG and shooting 33.6% from beyond the arc.

With Embiid playing at an MVP level once again, Daryl Morey is sure to make upgrades to the roster before February 8th. That said, the team’s stellar play to open the year has allowed him to stay patient and wait for the right kind of player to become available.
