The entire NFL is waiting to see what the New England Patriots will do with the third overall selection in the 2024 NFL draft. There have been multiple reports and theories on what the franchise might do, but as always, nothing is ever truly set in stone until the team is on the clock.
ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler believes that New England will take Drake Maye third overall. This may seem like a sensible selection, given that New England has been to his pro day and done multiple pre-draft meetings with him. There is little doubt that the Patriots need to take a quarterback with the pick .
Fowler added to the speculation on Saturday, when discussing the top quarterbacks in the draft.
“The feeling around the league right now is that Drake Maye would be that pick at number three,” Fowler said, during an appearance on ESPN’s SportsCenter. “They are open for business, as de facto GM Eliot Wolf said. But I’m told, they haven’t gotten an offer yet that would wow them or move them off the pick They know they need a quarterback in the worst way long-term, so they’ll probably stay put.”

It seems as though Maye is the consensus projection for New England at third overall. Obviously, time will tell what they end up doing, but there seems to be more smoke around the North Carolina product coming to New England.
This would certainly not be a bad selection, provided they surround him with the necessary playmakers to be successful.
