While viewers (and producers) were rooting for Love Island exes Molly and Callum to patch things up and have the ultimate reunion on the All Stars final, they were not to be swayed.
Both Molly and Callum, who- let’s face it- are the stars of the series, made it to the final two but they were there in different couples having dragged Tom and new girl Jess all the way up with them. Even host Maya Jama couldn’t help but comment on the fact that only one of the former couple would be walking away with the £50,000 prize.

But both the former couple still seemed baffled about why people thought there was a chance at them reuniting- the producers failed at every turn to give the viewers what they wanted and get them back together.

As it turned out, Molly triumphed over her ex in the end as she and her new love interest Tom were named the winners but no one is convinced that her new relationship is the one that’s written in the stars.
Even Tom gushing that he found ‘something special’ as she looked at him all doe-eyed did nothing to stop public opinion that Callum and Molly are the best suited. One person took to X to say ‘What the final should have looked like’ with a screen grab of Molly and Cal sitting side by side.

Just before the winning couple was announced, Jess finally spoke- for what seemed like only the third or fourth time we’ve actually heard her since she arrived as a bombshell with twin Eve. She said that she and Callum were ‘surprised’ to be there. Not as surprised as us, love!
But Maya really did speak for the viewers when she expertly managed to make the Love Island All Stars final all about Molly and Cal, sticking to what was seemingly the original script. She even referenced the fact that she constantly had people telling her she should get back with her ex Stormzy- and it turns out in her case they were right.
But Callum said that the biggest thing he wanted going into the villa was a friendship with his ex of three and a half years, while Molly said she was ‘grateful’ for their newfound friendship.
Molly and Callum entered the villa as bombshells on the same day and Cal picked Molly to couple up. When they had calls from home the seed was sewn that the public and their loved ones were rooting for them to get back together.

While in the villa they stirred things up with Georgia S and Chris in the early days, hoping that a little bit of a green-eyed monster might rear its ugly head between Molly and Cal.
But it seems, when it’s done it’s done. Even the fact that Molly’s new beau Tom insisted that he and Callum are friends- of course, Jess didn’t actually speak at all about how she gets on with Molly…
So Molly and Tom walked away with the top prize and the overwhelming sense is… ITV producers… you failed in the assignment.
