North Wexford local election candidate wants to see basic services in rural villages

Declan Kenny is running as a Sinn Fein Candidate for the Gorey Kilmuckridge LEA in the local elections on June 7 with the hopes of securing fairness for all.

Declan lives in a rural village just outside Gorey town which he says is lacking basic services such as transport, community places for people to meet as well as doctor and dentist services.

“For years upon years there has never been any input into basic things in many rural villages and that’s why I’m standing up for our villages and your people. Roads, footpaths and lighting are basics in the 21st Century you would imagine but I can assure you not in parts of this constituency. These are the simple measures that just aren’t there, but if elected I will hope to correct,” said Declan.

Declan says he is very aware of the housing crisis and that many young and old people from his local area can not survive with current rent and mortgage prices. If elected, he will push for more social and affordable housing across the constituency and for derelict housing be placed back into use.

He also believes that mental health services are lacking in Wexford and need more support at Government and local level to meet the requirements. If elected, Declan promises to hold monthly walk-in clinics throughout the constituency for people to come chat about their issues and concerns and they can try to seek a solution.

“People sometimes feel there is no one there to help get things done for them in the locality. Some people don’t see the local councillor until the next election, when their back looking for your support with a smile on their face and the hand of friendship out. I’m not that person, I’m open to all and willing to help and seek a solution to help you, your family and your area,” said Declan.
