Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., believes Democrats will end up rallying around President Joe Biden despite policy objections because of the danger of a second Donald Trump presidency.
“The choice is pretty clear … Donald Trump, who I suspect will be the Republican candidate … is one of the most dangerous political figures in modern American history. So I think people will end up rallying around Biden,” the senator told CNN’s Jake Tapper Sunday on “State of the Union.”

He said he understands why voters may not be enthused about the potential 2024 rematch of the same two candidates, and he urged Biden to “change course” on Israel, which is a particularly controversial issue.
“There is no question it is very hard for young people, I think for most Americans, to be excited about what is going on right now,” Sanders said.
“The president has got to change course. He has been very clear. He has expressed his concern about ‘indiscriminate bombing.’ He has asked [Israeli Prime Minister] Netanyahu over and over again to change course.”
The senator has called for an end to unconditional aid for Israel over the Gaza strikes that have claimed more than 23,000 Palestinian lives.
