SHAH ALAM – Investment, Trade and Industry Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Abdul Aziz said he will be taking steps to obtain appropriate legal advice and apply for leave at the High Court to file an affidavit to correct certain factual errors contained in an affidavit affirmed by Umno president Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

This was following Datuk Seri Najib Razak’s application to obtain leave for a judicial review to challenge the existence of an addendum order purportedly issued with the consent of the 16th Yang di-Pertuan Agong allowing the former prime minister to go under house arrest to serve the remaining six years of his prison sentence.

“I take no position in so far as the merits of the ongoing dispute is concerned but I merely wish to ensure that the factual record is properly reflected and recorded so that all parties and in particular the High Court is properly appraised of all material facts.

“This will ultimately allow for a just and fair decision to be made in the interest of all parties concerned,” he said in a statement, today.

Earlier, it was reported that Zahid had affirmed an affidavit in support of Najib’s application.

The addendum order would allow Najib to serve the remainder of his prison sentence under house arrest.

In the affidavit he filed at the High Court on April 9, Zahid said after seeing and reading the addendum order, he was clear about its contents.

He claimed to have been informed about the existence of the addendum order by Zafrul on Jan 30.

Meanwhile, the Attorney-General’s Chambers (AGC) in a statement today said Zafrul’s application over the supplementary affidavit would be brought to the court’s attention.
