Zack Snyder reflects on the reaction his films get

I was going to ask you about the Director’s Cut as well, because as a filmmaker, I think like you’ve made that such a thing. What is it that you think is so worthwhile about kind of presenting 2 versions of a film? Well, I think in this case. The real sort of why of the director’s cut is that in the genre like this, you know, making a giant space movie is you know the economics say you can’t really have an R rated version because you know we need the biggest audience to see the movie and. This allows me to sit down and write a crazy movie that has no business existing. And Netflix in their wisdom was like, well, we have a way to make that movie exist. The crazy version and the way you do that is you give me something I can sell that is consistent with your vision, but that broadens the audience. Maybe two hours would be cool. Maybe PG13 would be cool. What do you think? And I go, if I do that, then I get over here, just whatever I want. Yes. OK, it’s a good deal. I mean, for me it is a lot of interviews you do, the headlines generated tend to be kind of you defending or explaining films you’ve done. Does that ever get kind of frustrating or do you like having that debate of kind of being like, well, no, this is this is how I meant it and this is what I think for the future. Yeah, I don’t know. I mean I it’s a it’s a very interesting, you know, I think that there is a. I don’t want to say like an. They’re the reactions to my movies tend to really be. These big these the. Overreactions, I would say, you know, like we were talking about even just this rebel moon part one. I was like, you know, there’s not that it’s not that controversial of a movie. You know, it’s like, you know, a lot of people like, have like this either like crazy reaction to it. And I’m just like, I don’t, I don’t get it. I don’t get it. I don’t get the reaction. So yeah, it’s just, I just think that in the zeitgeist, I’ve just found this weirdo spot, you know, And it is what it is. I’m not, I’m not mad about it, but it just is what it is. And so. You know that it just causes this conversation that that is like self perpetuating. Yeah, it really is. It really is. You’ve got passionate fans as well. I very, I very much do. I thank God for my fans because they’re very they’ll they’ll get out there and. Take care of business if they have to.
