Barca fans urge Joan Laporta to sign Nico Williams
Barcelona fans have been heard urging president Joan Laporta to try and sign Nico Williams from Athletic Club this summer.
Williams has been linked with Barca for a while now and is currently impressing with Spain at Euro 2024.
Laporta was in Castelldefels on Saturday with Ronaldinho to open a Walk of Stars, and shouts of Laporta to “bring Nico” were heard from fans in attendance.
The Barcelona president is thought to be eager to bring Nico to Barcelona to play alongside fellow Spain internationals Lamine Yamal and Pedri.
Yet his release clause is around €55 million which will prove problematic, and Athletic Club have insisted he is happy at the Basque side.
Williams is also one of several players being linked with Barcelona currently alongside Dani Olmo, Luis Diaz and Jeremie Frimpong.
Barcelona are also thought to still be keen to bring in a new defensive pivot in time for the new 2024-25 La Liga season.
