BBC Great British Sewing Bee hit with complaints as viewers fume 'I'm over it'

Great British Sewing Bee fans rushed to complain as the latest instalment of the BBC programme kicked off.

The hit show returned with a brand new episode on Tuesday, airing on BBC Two as opposed to BBC One due to coverage of the UEFA 2024 Euros.

The contestants left in the competition took part in India Week and followed the usual format, taking part in three challenges.

This week, they were joined by special guest judge Priya Khanchandani, a curator and writer who specialises in South Asian culture.

For their first challenge, the contestants were tasked with making a Nehru jacket. The group were given four hours to create the tailored item, which has welt pockets, a stand collar and five buttons down the front.

The sewers appeared to struggle with their time management during the task, with Georgie admitting to host Kiell Smith-Bynoe that she was a "little behind".

With half an hour left, Suzy admitted she was working on "the worst" hem she's ever done. Lauren also confessed to having an issue with time, saying: "I'm not going to get my button holes or buttons on. So I'm going to sellotape it to you."

As the contestants were informed they only had five minutes left, Pascha quipped: "Finishing is never going to happen." When it was time to present their Nehru jacket, it was revealed that a number of the contestants failed to complete the item.

This led viewers to complain about the contestants not being given enough time, with one writing on X: "Once again....not enough time for a complicated challenge #NehruJacket."

A second agreed: "I'm sorry but if nearly no one finishes the garment, then you've not given them enough time #SewingBee."

Another demanded: "That seems to have been the theme for the last couple of series.... give them more time to showcase their skills."

A third fumed: "If basically every single contestant is struggling to finish their garment ever single week, for the last few series now, then the producers need to give the contestants more time!!! I'd prefer to see people create better art rather than false competitive time."

Someone else weighed in: "Terrible sewing on those jackets. Too hard? Not enough time?" Meanwhile another echoed: "#sewingbee I'm so over the contestants not having enough time, it's frustrating, I'd love to see properly finished garments."
