England will face Slovenia in their last-16 tie of Euro 2024The Group C winners have arguably been dealt the nicer side of the draw LISTEN to It's All Kicking Off! EUROS DAILY: England were 'abysmal', 'stunk the place out,' and played like a 'five-a-side team of kids'

The 2024 Euro group-stage has come and gone, with the round-of-16 action set to get underway this Saturday.

England have managed to go through as Group C winners despite a series of underwhelming performances in all three of their group games.

Gareth Southgate's men have failing to convince the nation that football will be coming home this summer after registering an unconvincing 1-0 win against Serbia in their tournament opener before going on to partake in two stalemate draws against Denmark and Slovenia respectively.

Despite only finishing on five points, it was enough to see them top the group because the other group games also ended in draws.

Southgate's men will need to see a massive improvement in their performances if they are to live up to their pre-tournament hype and label as one of the tournament favourites.

So who will England face in the knockout stages? Here is their route to the final.

Last-16 - Slovakia

England will face Slovakia in their round-of-16 tie on Sunday, June 30.

The Three lions narrowly avoided a match-up with the Netherlands after Georgia stunned Portugal, registering a 2-0 victory against one of the teams backed to win the competition.

Quarter-final - Italy or Switzerland

If England manage to win their last-16 tie against Slovakia, which seems like a reasonable task to get done.

They will face the winner's of the round-of-16 clash between defending champions Switzerland and tournament underdogs Switzerland.

Switzerland enjoyed a good run in their Group A fixtures, going unbeaten in the group and narrowly missing out on the top spot, which was snatched by host's Germany.

Whilst the reigning champions, managed to scrape through as Group B's third placed team after picking up an impressive four points in the so called 'group of death' against Spain, Croatia and Albania.

Semi-final - Austria / Romania / Netherlands / Turkey

If England manage to beat their quarter-final opponents, they will face one of the following nations in their semi-final clash on Wednesday, July 10

Austria, Romania, Slovenia, Netherlands and Turkey are all potential opponents for Southgate's side if they travel the distance a make it Dortmund for the semi-final.

Final - Spain / Germany / France / Portugal

Although it looks unlikely that England will make the Euro 2024 if we are to judge them from their lackluster performances in the Group stage.

England could do the unthinkable and reach the final and even go on to lift their first major trophy.

However unlike their path to the final, their opponents for the final will likely be one of the big four on the other side of the draw.

The could face Spain, Germany, France or Portugal in the final.
