Beverly Hills Cop 4 trailer leaves emotional fans counting down to Netflix release

Beverly Hills ... that's where you want to be! Axel Foley (Eddie Murphy) reunites with Sergeant Taggart (John Ashton) and Detective Billy Rosewood (Judge Reinhold) in the fourth instalment of the hit franchise.

It's so close now you can almost hear Eddie Murphy's trademark laugh, for the much-anticipated Beverly Hills Cop 4 finally lands on Netflix next month.

The fourth film in the franchise - Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F - will drop on July 3. Murphy's fast-talking, street-smart Detroit detective first appeared in the stellar 1984 original film, which spawned two sequels in 1987 and 1994.

This new movie, directed by Mark Molloy, will reportedly revolve around our hero returning to Beverly Hills after a conspiracy lands his daughter (played by Zola Star Taylour Paige) in danger. Axel teams up with her and new partner Detective Bobby Abbott (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) to get to the truth with a little help from old friends Billy Rosewood (Judge Reinhold) and John Taggart (John Ashton).

And in keeping with the whole 'old band is back' theme, Jerry Bruckheimer returns as producer, promising the "same Axel Foley" we've got to know and love. "He's still on the streets. He's still doing what he does. Obviously with age you get wiser. But he still has the twinkle in his eye," he told TUDUM.

"Some of the funniest moments in Axel F are when Eddie's doing improvising," added Molloy, who is making his directorial debut. "For me, a big part of my job was to create the right environment [and] cast the right people around Eddie to allow him to do what he does best."

Beverly Hills Cop was Eddie Murphy's first box office hit in 1984 after he made his name appearing as a cast member of Saturday Night Live. The first flick follows Axel as he travels to Beverly Hills to investigate the murder of his childhood friend Mikey.

Emotional fans swamped YouTube after viewing the latest trailer, with many genuinely moved by seeing the old gang reunited.
