Body of girl believed to be 12 years old found in north Houston creek

HOUSTON — The body of a girl who is believed to be 12 years old was found in a creek in north Houston on Monday.
The body was found along Rankin Road just west of the North Freeway at around 6:15 a.m.
At this point, we don't have details about how the girl died or her identity.
Houston Mayor John Whitmire, HPD interim Chief Larry Satterwhite and detectives with the department's homicide division will hold a news conference this afternoon about the discovery.
