Strictly Come Dancing star Craig Revel Horwood admits nerves as he announces surprise career move
Strictly Come Dancing judge Craig Revel Horwood shared his nerves on Monday's The One Show as he revealed a surprise career move.
The choreographer, 59, appeared on The One Show to reveal he has released his first solo single, This Is My Life, and is also releasing a solo album Revelations: Songs Boys Don’t Sing. Craig admitted on the show: "I'm very nervous, I've got to say because I'm not known for anything like this really." Later in the show, host Alex Jones pointed out: "It's the first time I've seen you looking a bit nervous" to which Craig replied: "I am nervous, I really am, I don't know why! It's really exposing, it is, if you've danced all your life and suddenly you're using your voice!"
Talking about realising the solo single and album, he said: "I love doing this and it’s been a part of my life forever because I’ve been in musicals. I starred in West Side Story back in the ‘80s. And I’ve loved Shirley Bassey all my life. Ever since I was three, amazingly. ‘This Is My Life’ is the single I’m releasing, of course. She brought that out in 1968 and I just love it and I’ve put a bit of a disco beat to it because I had to have a bit of disco on my album."
This prompted host Clara Amfo to joke: "In that jacket? Never!" pointing out Craig's sequin ensemble to which the Strictly judge added: "Hard to believe, hard to believe darling I might be partial to disco but yeah, it’s been great fun."

Earlier today, Craig said of the release of his new solo music: "I am thrilled to announce the release of my debut album! It’s a momentous occasion for me, and I can’t wait to share the songs I’ve carefully chosen. Throughout my musical journey, I’ve had the privilege of performing as both a dancer and a singer in numerous musicals. However, this album holds a special place in my heart as I’ve had the opportunity to select songs that truly resonate with me.
"Each track on the album is traditionally associated with female singers, which presented a delightful challenge. I embraced this opportunity to record these songs, knowing that it might be my only chance to give them my own interpretation. The album is a perfect blend of drama, pathos, romance, and a touch of high camp. I’ve poured my heart and soul into every note, hoping that you will love each and every song. Thank you for joining me on this incredible musical journey. I can’t wait for you to experience the magic of my album!"
Starting in April 2025, he will embark on a 53-date UK tour that begins in Eastleigh on April 4, and includes a London Union Chapel performance on April 26, with the tour set to end in Scotland’s Dunfermline on June 28.
