Contrary to popular belief that LeBron James, Chris Bosh, and Dwyane Wade were in constant communication and seamlessly aligned in their decision to unite forces in Miami, CB4 himself once disclosed a different reality.
According to the 6’11” center, the never-ending media frenzy and constant speculations surrounding their trio got all of them so frustrated that they stopped talking to one another. It went to the extent that Bosh wasn’t even sure if LBJ would ultimately join them in South Beach or not.
Chris on Miami's Big 3 not speaking to each other
The summer of 2010 was huge for all the big free agents - James, Bosh, and Wade. The four-time MVP had fallen short in the NBA Finals and Eastern Conference Finals during his initial seven-year stint with the Cavs, while Chris hadn’t made it past the first round in his seven years with the Raptors. As for Wade, he hadn’t been able to get past the opening round in the previous four seasons (he missed the playoffs entirely in ‘07-08).
Safe to say, while three of them experienced different narratives in their careers, they knew they weren’t around the right cast to lift a championship. Moreover, while they decided to link up together, the constant media buzz and non-stop chatter regarding their potential trio got so annoying that all of them stopped talking to each other for a while.
"It was so exhaustive, we stopped talking to each other; we couldn't," Bosh said on his appearance on the Real Ones podcast. "It was the last thing that we wanted to talk about."
CB4 wasn’t sure if James was going to join them
Chris and Dwyane signed with the Heat beforehand, and LeBron later announced his commitment on the TV special ‘The Decision.' Interestingly, it wasn’t only the fans who were curious about which team the Akron native would join, as even Bosh himself was uncertain.
"There was a mode to not knowing, of course," CB4 added. "It was a whole thing, program, and I was sitting on the edge of my seat, too, to be honest with you."
Once the air of uncertainty cleared and James, Wade, and Bosh finally united on the hardwood, their collective brilliance was nothing less than magic. They didn’t just lead the franchise to four consecutive NBA Finals right from the time they assembled in the 2010-11 season, but even won two consecutive titles in the process.
