SEOUL, June 17 (Yonhap) -- Hybe founder Bang Si-hyuk, the creative mind behind K-pop superband BTS, made a surprise appearance on stage during Park Jin-young's performance at the '2024 Weverse Con Festival,' held at Inspire Arena in Incheon on the 16th.
This year marks the 30th anniversary of Park Jin-young's debut. The JYP Entertainment founder performed his hit song "I Have a Girlfriend," introducing Bang Si-hyuk as the person who developed the guitar arrangement for the song back in 2001.
Bang Si-hyuk, who has a long history of collaboration with Park Jin-young as a music producer at JYP Entertainment, joined him on stage to play the guitar for the performance. Park Jin-young expressed his deep bond with Bang, saying, "After 22 years, I am singing this song again with Si-hyuk's guitar. Here we go, Si-hyuk."
Park Jin-young reminisced about the old days, mentioning how they used to create music together while dealing with everyday challenges, such as catching mosquitoes in a makeshift mosquito net. He then performed "Lie," a hit song by the group g.o.d, which he and Bang had worked on together. He also expressed his gratitude to Bang Si-hyuk while singing another g.o.d hit, "One Candle," saying, "Thank you, Si-hyuk."
The heartfelt collaboration between the two long-time friends and colleagues added a special touch to the festival, highlighting their enduring friendship and musical partnership.
