Saquon Barkley's Average Spring Not Indication Of What's To Come
Philadelphia Eagles running back Saquon Barkley was barely visible on the field during the spring. From OTAs to mandatory minicamps, Barkley has been an afterthought as new offensive coordinator Kellen Moore spent most of his time installing the passing game.
Don’t worry, Eagles fans. When we get to September, you are going to get a steady dose of Barkley out of the backfield both as a runner and an outlet receiver for quarterback Jalen Hurts.

The Eagles’ offensive line is still one of the top 6-8 lines in all of football even after the departure of fan favorite All-Pro center Jason Kelce. They can move defenders off the ball fairly efficiently, and that will give something Barkley has never had in his pro career: running lanes.
As a matter of fact, Barkley has a lot of things in Philly that he never had in his time in New York. Let’s start at quarterback. Hurts has led the Eagles to a Super Bowl Appearance and is widely considered one of the top 10 quarterbacks in the league. Since taking over as the full-time starter in 2021, the Eagles are 34-14 and have won nine or more games every year something the Giants only accomplished once in Barkley's time there.
The pairing of receivers A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith with tight end Dallas Goedert is head and shoulders above any trio that the Giants ever had, let alone the last six years.
While Barkley wasn’t featured as prominently in the spring practices, he is ready to have the best year of his career in the Eagles backfield.
Training camp starts in six weeks, and we're sure we will see a lot more Barkley when the time comes.
